“NSG595” neighbourhood centre in Seoul
A substantial yet understated presence
The design of the “NSG595” neighbourhood centre in Seoul began with two huge, rough masses, whose tactile quality is further accentuated by the occasional smooth surface.
The building’s massiveness is softened by individual glass elements, most notably the broad glass gap that divides it into two halves. This creates an open effect, further enhanced by the fact that passers-by can see into the building from the exit of the underground station opposite.
