Urban neighbourhood of Vienna by PPAG architects

An artificial mountain was created as a three-storey base for the neighbourhood, concealing a garage, cellars, storage rooms and technical facilities. Above these are seven buildings of varying heights, as well as a series of squares, green courtyards, open staircases and passageways on different levels.

Construction: Reinforced concrete walls with EWIS
The exterior walls are constructed of reinforced concrete. The 18 cm wide mineral wool insulation is part of the StoTherm Mineral facade insulation system, which is clad with a combination of clinker brick slips and plaster. The EWIS meets the highest fire protection requirements with European fire protection class A2-s1, d0 – both with render and brick-slip surfaces.

Combination of brick slips and render
The urban style of brick slips, in combination with the calmer render surfaces, achieve an exciting balance that is both visually appealing and functional. A special batch of StoBrick brick slips was produced for the urban quarter. The durable brick slips give the otherwise white facade a lively appearance, depending on how the light falls.

Individual living experience
The 296 apartments include as many different types as possible so that everyone can find an apartment that suits their needs. Some of the apartments are designed as maisonettes.
