Schütz Art Museum

Neutral white setting the stage for works of art

When designing the private museum to house the collection owned by Josef and Irene Schütz, Architekturkantine’s Thomas Blazek took his lead from the works of fellow architects LeCorbusier and Richard Meier, combining modern white with the principles of feng shui. The layout of the building is firmly anchored in a grid based on the number 9, which is highly significant in Chinese numerology.

The museum provides a frame for the works of art exhibited inside, so a neutral shade of white has been used throughout. The combination of the StoTherm Cell facade insulation system with the mineral external render featuring Lotus-Effect Technology ensures that algae formation is avoided and the facade stays white.
